We left Regensburg in Germany this morning and crossed the Danube at Passau entering Austria. Our destination was Slovakia and its capital, Bratislva.
Our command system of Tom-GPS and i-pad GPS map/Go_PRO control is working a treat. We are gradually setting up all elements of the car to work efficiently for the next few weeks.
In eastern Austria we were amazed at the number of wind turbines in the countryside. There were hundreds!, and although the pictures do not show it, they are enormous! As well, many of the edges of farmers fields were lined with row upon row of solar panels. We have to wonder why Australia is so backward in alternate energy when we should be leading the way.
We again crossed the danube at the Austrian – Slovakian border. The old town with its castle on top of the hill, is beautiful. We had a late lunch of the local dishes, pirohy (potato dumplings) and gulyas soup (cabbage soup with onions and tomato). Absolutely great!
More to come on day 2.
